Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-10-08. Applies to pinwheelapps.com and to these Atlassian Marketplace apps: Pinwheel Restore and Pinwheel Worklog Reminder (the "Apps").
Summary
The Apps run entirely on Atlassian's Forge platform. Everything they store stays in Atlassian-hosted storage attached to your Jira site. None of it is sent to Pinwheel or to any other third party. We cannot browse your Jira data, and we do not sell, share, or use it for anything other than running the App on your site.
Who we are
Pinwheel is operated by Ryan Dowdy, 402 King Farm Blvd, Ste 125 #PMB 1123, Rockville, MD 20850, USA. Contact: support@pinwheelapps.com.
What the Apps process
Pinwheel Restore
- Copies of work items: each work item's fields (such as summary, description, labels, custom fields, and the account ID and display name of people in fields like assignee and reporter) and up to 100 of its comments with each author's account ID and display name, saved when the item is created, edited or commented on. Email addresses, avatars and attachment contents are never stored.
- Deletion records: the deleted item's key and summary, when it was deleted, and the account ID and display name of the person who deleted it.
- Closed and changed accounts: once a week, Restore sends the Atlassian account IDs it holds to Atlassian's personal data reporting service. When Atlassian reports that an account was closed, Restore removes that person from its copies and records, and shows them as "Former user". When a person's name changes, Restore updates the stored name.
- Settings: the retention period and the install date.
A copy of a live work item is replaced each time the item changes. A deleted item's copy and record are removed automatically at the end of the retention period your admin sets (30 days by default, 365 at most).
Pinwheel Worklog Reminder
- Read, not stored: worklogs (who logged how much time, and when) and the members of the group you choose. These are read from Jira each time the check runs.
- Stored: the settings your admin saves, and a summary of the most recent run (the date, how many people were under target, and how many reminders were sent). Each run replaces the previous summary. No names, account IDs or hours are stored; the settings page shows who was under target only while the admin is looking at a run's result.
- Emails are sent by Jira's own notification service to the people who are under target.
Where the data is stored
In Forge hosted storage, operated by Atlassian, in the same data-residency region as your Jira site. The Apps declare no external network access ("egress"), so the Forge platform itself prevents them from sending data anywhere outside Atlassian. Atlassian's handling of that storage is covered by Atlassian's privacy policy.
Logs and analytics
The Apps write error messages to Atlassian's Forge logs so we can fix problems. We do not intentionally log personal data. Atlassian provides us with aggregate usage and license information about installs through the Marketplace, such as which sites have the App installed and their license tier.
When you contact support
If you email us, we keep your email address and the content of your message only to answer you and to improve the Apps.
This website
pinwheelapps.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. Cloudflare processes visitors' IP addresses to deliver the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy. If you arrive from one of our ads, the link may carry campaign tags in its address; we see only aggregate counts.
Deleting data
- Uninstalling an App ends all processing. Atlassian deletes the App's storage for your site after its standard 28-day retention period.
- In Pinwheel Restore, lowering the retention period applies to items deleted from then on. Uninstall the App to remove everything sooner.
- To ask about data we hold about you, including support emails, write to support@pinwheelapps.com.
Personal data rights
Your Jira site's organization controls the work item and worklog data the Apps process, and we act on its behalf. If you are a Jira user and want to exercise rights over that data, contact your site admin first. We will help them with any request we can act on.
Changes
We will post any change on this page and update the effective date. If a change affects what data the Apps store, we will also say so in the App's release notes on the Atlassian Marketplace.
